This Rembrandt etching depicts Joseph, Mary, and baby Jesus surrounded by the Shepherds and animals. The etching plates to produce this etching were loaned to Alex Eckener directly from The Rembrandt Museum in Amsterdam in the 1920's. Rembrandt Van Rijn was active/lived in Netherlands, Holland. Rembrandt is known for allegorical, mystical landscapes, portrait paintings, etchings and drawings. Client inherited four Rembrandt etchings upon her mother's, Inge Eckener Gollbeck, death. The client's grandfather (Alex Eckener) is the printmaker who produced the etchings in 1922. He was a renowned German artist. His daughter, Inge Eckener Gollbeck inherited the Rembrandt etchings in 1944 at his death. She then passed the along to the client in 2013.
